After the success of its first edition, the Iron Notes Summer Camp returns in 2026, offering an intensive training opportunity for young blacksmiths, metal art students, and practitioners interested in iron-based work. The camp will take place September 4–11, 2026, in Pratovecchio Stia, Italy, within the framework of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Biennale of Wrought Iron of Stia.
Rooted in the IronNotes – at the borders of Iron project, the summer camp connects traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design thinking. The programme emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world application of skills.
Participants will take part in the creation of an architectural landmark: The Gate of the STIA Academy, based on the winning design of the 2025 “Pier Luigi Della Bordella” competition. The workshop focuses on advanced forging techniques, including the production of complex architectural components and traditional joinery methods.

The camp provides:
- Hands-on training with experienced master blacksmiths
- Experience in a collaborative, real-world project
- Development of technical and artistic skills
- Opportunities for networking within an international community
The initiative supports the transfer of high-level craftsmanship to a new generation while strengthening connections across disciplines and cultures.
